Award-Winning Restaurant Pop-Up

Award-Winning Restaurant Pop-Up

This week we’re welcoming one of Asia’s top 30 restaurants for a very special pop-up at Amilla Maldives.

Ministry of Crab’ (MoC) is taking over Amilla’s ‘Wok’ restaurant from April 1st to 14th. The MoC’s flagship Colombo venue has fought off stiff competition to be recently ranked amongst the top 30 restaurants in Asia.

MoC has consistently won awards each year in the ‘Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants’ index, and 2021 is no exception. This puts the ‘Ministry of Crab’ in the same class as other famous international fine dining restaurants such as ‘Caprice’ in Hong Kong and ‘Ode’ in Tokyo. It was also awarded ‘Best Restaurant in Sri Lanka 2021’ for the fifth year running.

The team here at Amilla is thrilled to be hosting the award-winning MoC team, who are hopping over the Laccadive Sea from Colombo to stay with us for two whole weeks. During this time, they’ll be serving up ‘Ministry of Crab’ classics for guests such as fresh Sri Lankan mud crab with garlic-chilli sauce. With a daring no-freezer policy, it’s the tenderest, freshest and most flavoursome crab you’ll ever taste.  So, it’s no surprise to hear these dishes are frequently referred to by diners as ‘the best crab in the world’.

A Fun-Filled Easter

Our ‘cracking’ collaboration with the Ministry of Crab is one of the highlights of our upcoming Easter programme. This year, our theme is Neverland. The enchanting line-up of entertainment and activities will celebrate the concepts of togetherness, resilience and sustainability. With the MoC being such a strong advocate of fresh, local ingredients, it’s an excellent fit with our own sustainability, homegrown and homemade philosophies.

If you can’t make it this, time, why not check out the other ‘Ministry of Crab’ venues in Colombo, Shanghai, Manilla, Mumbai, Bangkok and Crossroads Maldives.
