We'll Be Back with a Bang

Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences Maldives Resort and Residences is temporarily ceasing operations – but is preparing to come back with a bang on October 1st, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maldives Government has restricted entry to visitors from several countries, while many other nations are now advising their citizens not to travel.

This has resulted in a large fall in the number of arrivals to the Maldives. After much discussion and soul-searching, we decided to take the difficult decision to pause our operations temporarily.

Since many of our team will be remaining on the island, we’ve decided to seize the opportunity to shake things up by making all kinds of improvements and aim to reopen with some new changes and surprises in a few months.

Always Evolving

Amilla has garnered a reputation over the years for rolling out ground-breaking innovations. During the past six months, under the helm of new General Manager, Jason Kruse, and Sustainability Manager, Victoria Kruse, we’ve pioneered a plethora of new concepts. They include launching a commitment to work on sustainability projects to help make our resort eco-friendlier.

Some of the pioneering projects we’ve rolled out just in the past six months include Wellness Your Way (WYW) – the Maldives’ first truly comprehensive and fully integrated ‘eating lifestyles’ menus.  The WYW menus cater to the demands of today’s resort guests, with delicious customizable keto, paleo, vegan, low lectin, and probiotic dishes.

Jason is also overseeing the development and celebration of our resort’s proud Maldivian heritage, recognition of its enviable position in the biodiverse Baa Atoll UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and enrichment of its highly customised charismatic service.

Behind the Scenes

The temporary closure will see us working on even bigger and better innovations over the next few months. Other than essential maintenance works on our chic minimalist Villas and Residences, we’ll be further developing our enticing F&B offerings under the leadership of Chef Mickaël Farina. We will also create a fresh new look for our landscaping, which will enhance the naturally lush island. We also have other exciting plans that we’ll be announcing soon!

Until Then…

In the meantime, any of our guests that are currently staying on the island right now or are booking a long stay in one of our Residences will continue to be treated with Amilla’s signature charm. We will be operating under ‘adjusted hospitality’ but will be pulling out all the stops within our capabilities, which includes selected special activities and spa treatments.
