CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATES

The health and peace of mind of Amilla’s guests and staff is our priority. Fortunately, Amilla Fushi is a private island, completely isolated from the general public. As such, we have complete control over who we permit to enter our island. We have implemented some of the Maldives’ strictest protocols in response to growing concerns from travellers regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus).

We are continuing to work closely with the Maldives Department of Health and to follow the World Health Organization’s latest recommendations. In addition, the Maldives Government is screening all arrivals at Velana International Airport.

For your reassurance that the Maldives is still open for business whilst also taking the utmost care to protect all our guests, we’d like to share our Pre-Arrival Protocols, Reasons for Refusal of Entry to Our Private Island,  Denial of Entry/Refunds and our ongoing Hygiene Protocols During your Holiday to make your stay a happy and safe one.

PRE-ARRIVAL PROTOCOLS

  • Upon arrival in the Maldives, all guests are asked to complete a Health Questionnaire to determine their health status and recent travel history.
  • Any passengers who have travelled from/visited/transited via any airports in China, Macau, Iran, Bangladesh, Italy or Korea’s North Gyeongsang Province/South Gyeongsang Province within the past 14 days will be denied entry to the Maldives and will be subject to quarantine measures. Travel companions of these guests will also be denied entry as per updated Maldives Immigration regulations on: https://immigration.gov.mv/.
  • We recommend you take a domestic flight to Amilla rather than a seaplane transfer because domestic planes are being sanitised after every single journey and are not making additional stops, thereby reducing the risk of additional hand to mouth contamination. (COVID-19 is spread by contact with infected surfaces then touching your eyes/nose/mouth but also is transmitted via droplets within a 3ft radius of the cough/sneeze of an infected person).
  • We are screening the temperatures of all guests and staff arriving at Amilla Fushi, using non-touch technology.

REASONS FOR REFUSAL OF ENTRY TO AMILLA

  • Anyone with a temperature of, or over, 100.4°F/38°C. Anyone who has had contact with/helped care for a patient suspected of having or diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • Anyone currently under health monitoring for a suspected case of COVID-19.
  • Anyone feeling unwell/exhibiting cold or flu-like symptoms or difficulty breathing

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR ENTRY IS REFUSED

  • If you are refused entry to Amilla after arriving in the Maldives for the reasons stated above, you will be issued a full refund for the cost of your holiday.
  • For any new bookings made between March 9 2020 to March 31, 2020, for a travel period until September 30, 2020, we have a revised cancellation condition: If you are directly affected* by COVID-19, we’ll give you a free date change.
  • *Directly affected is defined as a government ceasing travel from your country of residence to the Maldives, the Maldives Government stopping your country of residence from travelling to the Maldives, if your direct family is directly affected by COVID-19**, if you are travelling from a resort directly affected by Coronavirus outbreak or if the Maldives as a whole becomes subject to travel restrictions.**Medical certificate required as evidence.

DURING YOUR HOLIDAY AT AMILLA

  • Whilst we’re thrilled to welcome you, our team is exercising a no handshake policy. You’ll find an arrival letter in your villa explaining our hygiene protocols and what we’re doing to help keep everyone protected.
  • Any guests or staff who develop symptoms of any respiratory illness, flu-like symptoms, cough or a fever above 100.4°F/38°C whilst on the island will be visited by our Resort Doctor to ensure they’re OK and to protect other guests.
  • Since the very start of the outbreak, we have been carrying out extensive cleaning and disinfection protocols in all areas of the resort as well as monitoring the temperature of all arriving and departing guests and staff, to keep our private island safe.
  • We continue to meticulously practice rigorous sanitization procedures and to monitor the temperatures of all arrivals and departures before granting access to Amilla Fushi.
  • We have for many weeks been urging guests to use our free hand sanitizer gel that has been placed at strategic areas around the island including outside restaurants.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding. We hope that this information will help reassure you that we’re doing everything within our power to ensure your wellbeing and peace of mind at Your Island Home, whilst causing limited impact to  your enjoyment of the Maldives.
